Interviewer: What is your best advice to students who want to change their accent?
Mar: Hire me. In all seriousness, an accent reduction tutor will be able to tell you what you’re doing wrong and how to correct it. It’s all about the basic sounds. I’m talking about consonants and vowels. I teach 18 vowel sounds. How is that possible when we only have 5 vowels? More than likely, there are vowel sounds in English that don’t exist in your native language. This is my favorite saying, “If you don’t know it (don’t know that it exists), you can’t hear it. If you can’t hear it, you can’t mimic it.”
Interviewer: Is there anything else other than consonant sounds and vowel sounds?
Mar: Yes. There are six areas that you need to work on to really change your accent.
Interviewer: What makes you different from other accent reduction tutors?
Mar: First-hand experience. I’m someone who has successfully reduced her accent. I think that I’m better at explaining the process since I went through it.
Interviewer: What is it like having a class with you?
Mar: It’s fun. I’m very friendly and easy to talk to. We will probably laugh a lot and have relaxed casual conversations like old friends. But don’t let that fool you. I’m very organized and detail-oriented. I have very specific goals for every session. Plus we will work on your weaknesses and eliminate them.
Interviewer: Do you offer a trial lesson?
Mar: Of course. I can give you a link where we can set up a free demo.
